Embarking on a Health & Wellness Journey: A Case Study on Dizziness, Weight Gain, Food Intolerances and Fungal Toenail

Prior Initial Consultation

Embarking on a journey towards better health and wellbeing is an empowering decision, which is why we are so proud of those who commit to our personalised wellness plan. The following case study is that of a 43-year-old woman, who was experiencing various symptoms, such as:

  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety
  • Food Intolerance
  • Occasional diarrhoea/nausea
  • Bladder pressure
  • Occasional back pain
  • Fungal toenail
  • Poor sleep
  • Weight Gain

With conventional healthcare leading to no progress, her journey illustrates the importance of addressing root causes and seeking a holistic approach to healing.

At-Home Lab Test Recommendations

Prior to working with us, this client had already taken the first steps to controlling her health and already carried out multiple tests to assess hormones and gut health.  Regrettably, the test results were not accurately interpreted, and minimal guidance was provided, leaving her with more questions than answers. We then recommended a few more that were required to correctly identify the root cause of her symptoms:

  • Thyroid Basic Kit
  • Insulin HBAlc Test
  • Hair Tissue Test

Lab Test Findings

After running these tests, we found that the results were very insightful. What we discovered consisted of:

  • High intestinal pH
  • Gut Dysbiosis
  • Malabsorption of protein and fats
  • Food sensitivities to certain fruit and vegetables
  • Low morning cortisol levels
  • High afternoon cortisol levels
  • Elevated secretory igA
  • Low Vitamin C
  • Heavy metals; high levels of arsenic and mercury
  • Low levels of chromium, manganese, sodium and potassium

These results brought to light some important insights:

    • Cortisol imbalance:
      • Diminished adrenal output led to plummeting cortisol levels.
      • Resulted in low energy, interrupted sleep, susceptibility to illness and weight gain in the midsection.
  • Gut Health:
        • Poor gut health hindered nutrient absorption.
        • Needed measures to restore gut balance, including addressing dysbiosis and nutrient absorption issues.
  • Heavy Metal Toxicity:
        • High intake of specific fish and dental mercury amalgams caused heavy metal toxicity.
        • Removed mercury filling with a biological dentist.
        • Reduced fish intake and followed a heavy metal detoxification protocol.
  • Electrolyte Imbalance:
      • Imbalanced electrolytes contributed to dizziness and instability.
      • Required corrective measures to restore electrolyte balance for improved overall health.

    Follow-up Consultation

After following our plan closely, the client showed impressive results during her follow-up consultation:

    • Dizziness gone
    • Anxiety Improved
    • Tolerated most foods
    • Diarrhoea/nausea gone
    • Bladder pressure gone
    • Back pain gone
    • Lost 5kg of weight
    • Sleep was now optimal

However, some lingering symptoms were still causing her troubles:

    • Headaches
    • Fungal toe nail
    • Anxiety in certain situations (such as crossing the road)
    • Wanted to lose another 5kg

After finding this out, we ran the mycotoxin test to check for mould toxicity. To no surprise, high levels were indeed found, so we proceeded to remove these toxins. Although fungal toe nails are usually a manifestation of internal yeast overgrowth/candida, in this case it was localised, so we used natural, topical remedies. The anxiety was not coming from a physiological imbalance but certain traumas and unresolved emotions. This was addressed using alternative therapies, such as tapping which has been extremely effective for her. We then provided dietary and lifestyle recommendations to support her in losing another 5kg.

     The Result

She is happier and healthier than ever before! We are eternally proud of her hard work and how far she has come. To watch her testimonial, please see here. This case study is proof of the fact that there isn’t one specific solution to your health problems. There are often a number of imbalances going on, meaning that a comprehensive and personalised approach is needed.
