Hemp Hearts
Hemp hearts (also called hulled hemp seeds) are raw, shelled hemp seed interiors. Hemp seeds are the seeds of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa.

I actually eat hemp hearts and this is when hard outer shells or husks are removed from whole hemp seeds, leaving softer, smaller kernels. Unlike whole hemp seeds which can be bitter, shelled hemp is tender with a rich nutty flavour.

I absolutely love the flavour and eat them almost every day. I also consider them a superfood because they have so many benefits but my main two favourite benefits are:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
High in Omega-3: Hemp seeds are rich in healthy fats and they have a 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3, so they are crucial for regulating healthy levels of inflammation.
High in protein: 1 tbsp has around 3g of protein which is quite a lot considering that it is a seed! On top of that, they are a complete source of protein, meaning that they provide all nine essential amino acids. Very few plant-based foods are complete sources of protein!

I love making a big bowl of roasted veg with some olive oil and adding hemp hearts on top. You can also add it to your daily AM smoothies to boost it up!
